Nurture@Home is a local home-based childcare service that covering the Nelson Tasman and Marlborough regions providing boutique early childhood early learning & care through our team of nurturing Educators who are infused with a love of learning; providing safe, heart-led, loving, respectful and stimulating environments for all children to blossom. We believe Home is where the Heart is and that the child is at the Heart of the matter, working in partnership with whanau to support each child to achieve their full potential.
Need Childcare?
Our passionate team of heart-led Educators are carefully chosen and whom we believe will provide the level of nurturing care we expect! All of our Educators are safety checked and are genuinely passionate about providing quality early childhood care and education.
Our Home Educators/Kaipoipoi work from their own homes with a maximum of four children, creating a positive, nurturing environment and provide a rich programme to support each child/tamaiti to achieve their full potential.
Our Nanny Educators/Kaipoipoi attend to your childs/tamaiti needs, supporting their learning and development in the comfort of the childs/tamaiti own home. Nanny Educators/Kaipoipoi can also work alongside the families/whanau in a support role.
Our FREE Playschools
Children learn best through play and that is why we provide two Nurture@Home Playschools EVERY WEEK during term time.
Playschools provide lots of socialisation opportunities for children and adults and our Playschools are open to anyone in the community so you are welcome to join us.
We are licensed by the Ministry of Education and passionate about our active programme of activities full or rich learning experiences. Time and time again research shows that group size and child to adult ratios are key factors in quality outcomes for children. Providing tamariki with the opportunity to unfold and learn at their own pace and develop to their fullest potential.

Working as an Educator with Nurture@Home as your support network you become part of a fun, nurturing and professional team, caring for children in your own home as an at-home Educator or in the families home as a Nanny Educator. You can choose to work part-time or full-time and choose hours to suit your own family.

NatureFocus
At Nurture@Home Childcare & Education we are passionate about supporting children to connect with nature and Papatuanuku.
At our weekly NatureFocus the environments offer a variety of possibilities for exploring, planning, reasoning & learning as the children are able to study, discover, investigate and search. Developing a sense of belonging in their community and an attachment with nature.
At Nurture@Home Childcare & Education the children’s relationship to Papatūānuku is based on whakapapa, respect and aroha.

While we provide the nurturing home-based care, your child also gets to experience the benefits of larger group social settings through our Playschool and NatureFocus sessions each week. These group activities help foster social skills, teamwork, and positive peer interactions within another setting, all in the context of outdoor exploration and unstructured play (with only one small age appropriate mat time to share a special song or celebration). It’s the perfect blend of individual care and group dynamics plus experiences in their own community, this is the key to a sense of wellbeing in a toddler!

For our 4.5-year-olds, we have a solid transition to school plan that has been receiving glowing feedback from new entrant teachers. Our school readiness program is specifically designed to ensure that your child is well-prepared for the next big step, with skills and confidence that make the transition a smooth and successful one and we are hearing time and time again just how ready and prepared the 5 and 6 year olds that leaving Nurture@Home are for their new school journey .

"Moving from a Kindergarten setting into a leadership role in home-based education has been such a rewarding and eye-opening experience. Coming from a more structured environment, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the individualised approach that home-based care offers. It’s incredible to see how learning is woven into daily life in a way that truly honors each child and their family’s values and beliefs. This shift has deepened my appreciation for the power of relationships, flexibility, and child-led learning.
I’ve thrived off the challenges of my new role. Instead of feeling emotionally drained, I feel energised, fulfilled, and genuinely "topped up" by the work I’m doing. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is the calmness in home-based environments. Children’s needs are met straight away, and their learning is so personal to them. Seeing this in action has only strengthened my passion for home-based care and my role in supporting Educators to provide the best possible outcomes for children.
One of the highlights of my role has been NatureFocus and Playschool. These sessions provide such rich, organic play and learning in short bursts of bigger group experiences. I love watching how Educators support each other and work together, creating a beautiful, collaborative space for both children and themselves. These moments remind me just how powerful shared experiences can be and how they complement the individualised learning that happens in home-based care.
Another huge highlight has been the connections I’ve made with my team of visiting teachers, Educators, and children. I am delighted to be offering home-based childcare in my lovely, large and well resourced home in the heart of Wakefield for children 0-5yrs of age.
My service is open Monday to Friday 7.30am-5.30pm and I am looking for children to join.
